A car accident that occurred the other night near Bambla has once again highlighted the poor condition of a crucial road connecting Shivkhodi.
While the accident could have been severe, prompt action by the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) department helped restore temporary connectivity.
According to reports, the department quickly stepped in to repair the damaged culvert by filling it with stones to ensure vehicles could pass.
This road is frequently used, especially during VVIP movements, yet it has long been ignored by officials and politicians alike.
Despite repeated concerns, the issue remained unresolved until the PMGSY department took temporary measures to prevent further accidents. Speaking to the media, AWI Pouni of the PMGSY department confirmed that the repair was only a temporary fix.
“We have sent a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a permanent solution,” said AWI Pouni. “The contractor responsible for the previous work has completed his obligations, and we are pushing for a new culvert to be constructed before May or June.”
Locals have expressed distress over the neglect of the road, accusing officials and panchayat representatives of prioritizing personal interests over public safety.
