New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Personnel, on Wednesday confirmed that the government is not considering any proposal to change the retirement age of its employees. In a written response in the Lok Sabha, Singh also clarified that there is no policy in place to abolish the vacancies created by the retirement of government employees.
“There is no proposal to change the retirement age of government employees under consideration,” Singh stated, in response to queries regarding potential adjustments to the retirement age. He further added that no formal request had been received from government employee unions or organizations regarding such a change.
Regarding the differences in retirement ages between central and state government employees, Singh explained that no centralized data is maintained on the issue, as it falls under the jurisdiction of the individual state governments.
The minister’s remarks came after questions were raised about the uniformity of retirement age across various levels of government service. While retirement policies may vary by state, the central government does not regulate this aspect across different regions.
