    Specially-abled person charred to death in J&K’s Baramulla

    Srinagar, Feb 21:  A 24-year-old specially-abled man was charred to death in a fire incident that broke out overnight in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Friday.

    They said the blaze erupted around 4 am in a single-story house in Binner Batpora, trapping the victim, identified as Zubair Ahmad. The flames spread rapidly, preventing family members from rescuing him.

    The deceased’s body has been shifted to Government Medical College Baramulla for medico-legal formalities.

    Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

    In another devastating fire incident that broke out at Malarutta Bohri Kadal in downtown Srinagar, a five-story commercial building and three residential houses were gutted during the wee hours.

    The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the structures before fire fighting teams managed to bring it under control.

    The cause of the fire is being ascertained, they said.
