Engaging Public To Strengthen Security, Ensure Peace

There is dire need that Jammu and Kashmir Police should engage the public to ensure community security as strengthening public-police partnership could prove instrumental in maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all the stakeholders. It was good that men in Khaki held a whirlwind tour of the Jammu city as part of security review and interacted with the public seeking support to make the security of the region robust as the people of the region could help the cops in many ways by acting as ears and eyes of the administration and observing keenly what is being happening around them.

Reportedly, the DIG Jammu-Kathua led team of top police officers has recently conducted security review of Old Jammu City markets and hotels to gain the confidence of the people and give a strong message to unscrupulous elements not to indulge in any kind of misadventure. During the tour, the officers checked hotels, met with members of local market associations and also appealed to the general public to share information to the nearest police station about any suspicious persons, activities or mischievous elements.

The appeal made by the officers hold much significance because it is not possible for cops to remain present at all places all the times but involving the people through such efforts, things could be monitored round the clock because the people are present in the market places and other areas for most of the time in a day and even during the nights thus having the potential to gather and convey the vital information for controlling crime and other activities inimical to peace in the region.

All said and done, the police should actively engage with the public to gather critical information that can aid in maintaining peace and safety in the community. By asking citizens to share information about suspicious individuals, activities, or anything that threatens public harmony, law enforcement could be enhanced to the level next to prevent crimes.

Public cooperation is essential, as local residents often possess valuable insights that might go unnoticed by authorities. Building trust through open communication encourages people to report unusual behaviour, contributing to a safer environment for everyone. By fostering this partnership, police can better address security challenges and protect the community more effectively.
