Jammu Tawi, Dec 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Sub-Junior Wushu team made an impressive return from the 24th Sub-Junior National Wushu Championship held in Tarn Taran, Punjab, securing a total of 16 medals, including 3 Gold, 2 Silver, and 11 Bronze. The championship took place from December 1-6, 2024, and was organized by the Punjab Wushu Association under the aegis of the Wushu Association of India. Advancing in the sanda event, Geenakshi earned a Gold medal, while in the Taolu category, Arzath Wangoo and Mohd Arman Malik each secured Gold medals. The team also won a Silver in the Group Event, with participants including Hiranya Mahajan, Praznath Wangoo, Arzath Wangoo, Bhavkul Handoo, Rudra Partap, Mohd Arman Malik, Dhruvika Gupta, Ahaan, Sourish, and Manan. Other medalists include: Geenakshi – Gold, Arzath Wangoo – Gold & Silver, Mohd Arman Malik – Gold & Bronze, Dhruvika Gupta – Bronze, Bhavkul Handoo – Bronze, Praznath Wangoo – Bronze, Hiranya Mahajan – Bronze, Rudra Partap – Bronze, Tabish Maqbool – Bronze, Farhaan Rashid – Bronze, Sana Sheeraz – Bronze, Syed Mursaleen Shah – Bronze, Ahsaan ul Haq – Bronze.
Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee, congratulated the team for their exceptional performance and expressed gratitude towards the J&K Sports Council, particularly Nuzhat Gul, for providing necessary support and equipment, including Wushu gear procured from an International Wushu Federation-approved agency. J&K Wushu Association President, Vijay Saraf, and General Secretary, Bhavneet, also congratulated the team, thanking the J&K Sports Council for their continued support and wishing the athletes success in future competitions.
