    Nirmal Kotwal elected as new President JKHCBA-Jammu, vows to improve Bench-Bar relation

    Jammu Tawi, Dec 7: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (JKHBAJ) has elected a new body, with Advocate Nirmal Kotwal being appointed as the president. The elections for the new office bearers were held today.

    Advocate Nirmal Kotwal secured 1031 votes to win the presidential election, defeating Sr. Advocate Abhinav Sharma (446 votes), Advocate Rohit Sharma (318 votes), Advocate Pawan Kundal (61 votes), and Bhavishya Sudan (38 votes).

    In other key positions, Advocate Baldev Singh was elected as vice president with 990 votes. His competitors, Deepika Mahajan, Advocate Daljeet Manhas, and Advocate Ashwani Kumar Banotra received 548, 327, and 29 votes respectively.

    Advocate Pardeep Majotra won the general secretary post with 749 votes, while his opponents Arjun Singh Pathania (547 votes), Advocate Himanshu Sharma (443 votes), and Advocate Astham Hussain Bhat (155 votes) were not successful.

    For the joint secretary position, Advocate Anshu Mahajan emerged victorious with 1215 votes, defeating Advocate Rahul Sharma (672 votes). Advocate Rahul Aggarwal was elected as cashier, securing 1170 votes against his rivals Advocate Jameel Choudhary (375 votes) and Advocate Atul Sharma (360 votes).

    The election process saw a total of 1904 votes cast out of 2105 eligible voters. The results were declared late in the night due to the time-consuming vote counting process. Sr. Advocate Vikram Sharma, the former president of the Bar Association, served as the Returning Officer for the election.
