New Delhi, Dec 6: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Friday following a ruckus by Opposition members over BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

When the House re-assembled at noon, Presiding Officer Dilip Saikia informed members that the Speaker had not allowed any adjournment motion and called for the papers to be laid on the table. After the papers were laid, Saikia mentioned that he had received a notice from Congress MP Hibi Eden, which was under consideration.

Saikia then called for the Zero Hour, and BJP’s Nishikant Dubey was given the floor to speak. Amid ongoing uproar, Dubey alleged, “Congress ka haath Soros ke saath,” accusing an overseas organization, OCCRP, of having ties with Congress and claiming that George Soros had funded Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The Congress MPs immediately rose in protest, shouting in the House, which led to the adjournment of the proceedings for the day. The Lok Sabha is scheduled to meet again on Monday, December 9.

Earlier, when the House reconvened at 11 am, Opposition members had surged towards the well of the House, raising various issues, which were largely inaudible. Speaker Om Birla asked the Opposition whether they wanted the House to function, emphasizing that the proceedings would be conducted with full dignity and decorum, allowing the Opposition to raise issues as per parliamentary rules.
