New Delhi, Dec 6: On the occasion of the 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas, the nation paid heartfelt tributes to Dr. BR Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla leading the homage at Parliament House Lawns in New Delhi.
The day is observed annually as ‘Mahaparinirvan Diwas’ to honor Dr. Ambedkar’s immense contributions to Indian society and his unwavering commitment to social justice, equality, and building an inclusive nation.
Former President Ram Nath Kovind, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and several other parliamentarians and dignitaries also paid floral tributes to the iconic leader.
In a post on social media, Prime Minister Modi shared a photo from his visit to Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai earlier this year and hailed Dr. Ambedkar as a “beacon of social justice.” He stated, “On Mahaparinirvan Diwas, we bow to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of our Constitution and a beacon of social justice. Dr. Ambedkar’s tireless fight for equality and human dignity continues to inspire generations. Today, as we remember his contributions, we also reiterate our commitment to fulfilling his vision.”
Dr. BR Ambedkar, a renowned leader, jurist, economist, and social reformer, dedicated his life to the cause of equality and the eradication of caste-based discrimination. In recognition of his monumental contributions, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1990.
