Jammu Tawi, Dec 2: The Taushi Branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), Jammu and Kashmir Prant, successfully hosted the Branch-level inter-school ‘Bharat Ko Jano’ (Know Your Bharat) annual quiz contest at Baby Caterers Banquet Hall, Rehari Colony, Jammu.
Dr. Dev Raj Sharma, National Chairman (Environment) of Bharat Vikas Parishad, was the Chief Guest at the event. In his address, Dr. Sharma emphasized the purpose of the competition and its role in enhancing students’ awareness of India’s cultural, historical, and scientific heritage. He encouraged students to develop a positive outlook and become responsible citizens, ready to contribute to the country’s growth. Smt. Sunita Gupta, Finance Secretary of BVP J&K Prant, attended as the Guest of Honor.
Ajay Khajuria, President of Taushi Shakha, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of intellectual competitions in broadening students’ horizons.
A total of nine teams, representing both senior and junior categories from six government and private schools, participated in the competition. The quiz covered a wide range of subjects including Indian history, geography, science, technology, sports, art, culture, literature, agriculture, economics, politics, law, and the Constitution.
In the senior category, Keshav Sharma and Akshat Singh from Army Public School, Damana, claimed the first position, while Yashodan Bhat and Udai Uniyal from St. Xavier Convent Sr. Secondary School, Barnai, secured second. Manat Lamba and Muskan Sharma from Shining Star Academy, Muthi, took third place. In the junior category, Sanjali Gupta and Reshika Bhat from St. Xavier Convent Sr. Secondary School, Barnai, won first place, followed by Divya Barna and Shivani from Government Middle School Barnai in second, and Diya Bhat and Vinayak Sharma from Shining Star Academy, Muthi, in third.
The winning teams from both categories will now represent their schools at the State-Level Inter-School competition on December 7, 2024, at the Institution of Engineers Auditorium, Channi Himmat, Jammu.
Other participating teams included Sadhvi Puri and Tanvi Sharma from Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Rehari, and Mansi and Kiran from Govt High School, Muthi in the senior category. In the junior category, Naman and Ansh from Govt High School, Muthi also participated.
The quiz was conducted by Shri C M Sharma, Sanskar Pramukh of Taushi Shakha, following the Bharat Ko Jano manual guidelines.
The Chief Guest distributed trophies to the winning teams and certificates to all participants. In addition, Khadi Shoulder Bags were presented to students and teachers by Samiksha, the Society for Promotion of Inclusive and Sustainable Development, Jammu, to promote environmental sustainability by reducing the use of non-biodegradable plastic bags.
Jagmohan Sharma, Secretary of BVP Taushi Shakha, concluded the event with a vote of thanks. He advised students on how to increase their knowledge and the importance of using mobile phones judiciously, as well as avoiding drug addiction.
Prominent members of the BVP Taushi Shakha, including Prof. Ajay Khajuria, K. L. Anand, Kamini Kesar, Ashok Gupta, Arvind Khajuria, and Sushil Kumar Bhola, also played key roles in the success of the event.
