New Delhi, Nov 29: The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day on Friday after opposition MPs staged a protest over the rejection of adjournment notices for discussions on allegations against the Adani Group, and the ongoing violence in Manipur and Sambhal. The House will reconvene on Monday.

Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar informed the House that he had received 17 adjournment notices under Rule 267, all of which were rejected. This prompted opposition members, including those from Congress, to raise slogans and express their displeasure. Dhankhar criticized the use of Rule 267, saying it was being “weaponized” to disrupt House proceedings.

The opposition had sought discussions on corruption allegations against the Adani Group, communal violence in Sambhal, and ethnic clashes in Manipur. Dhankhar remarked that similar issues had been raised in previous sessions, leading to the loss of three working days. The adjournment marks the fourth consecutive day of the Winter Session without substantial business.
