    Vehicle worth over Rs 8 Lakh linked to drug trafficking seized in Handwara

    Kupwara, Nov 20:  In a significant move against drug trafficking, Handwara Police have seized a vehicle worth Rs 8.90 lakh, allegedly purchased with proceeds from illegal drug activities in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The vehicle, owned by Javed Ahmad Mir, a resident of Dardsun Kralpora, was seized under Section 68(f)(1) of the NDPS Act, 1985.

    According to  reports, the seizure is connected to Case FIR No. 173/2024, registered at Handwara Police Station under Sections 8/21-29 of the NDPS Act. Investigations revealed that the vehicle was illegally acquired through the proceeds of narcotic drug and psychotropic substance trafficking.

    The police release emphasized that this action is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes and illegal activities in the region. The seizure has been praised by local residents, who have commended the police’s commitment to creating a drug-free society.

    Handwara Police have called on the community to assist in these efforts by reporting any suspicious activities related to drugs or other criminal activities. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
