Jammu Tawi, Nov 20: The Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today flagged off the ‘Amul Clean Fuel Rally’ at JKMPCL Plant, Satwari, Jammu. A total of 12 bikers of Amul have flagged off for the National Capital in presence of Ashok K. Angurana, Chairman (IAS Retd.) of J&K Milk Producers Co-operative Ltd., and Abhishek Sharma, Zonal In-Charge (Chandigarh Zone) of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (Amul).
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu commended Amul for its pivotal role in bolstering the rural economy of India. Highlighting its remarkable contributions, he noted that Amul has not only transformed the dairy sector but also provided sustainable livelihood opportunities to millions of rural households across the nation. He emphasized that the cooperative model adopted by Amul serves as an exemplary framework for empowering rural communities, fostering self-reliance, and contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the country.
Beginning in Jammu on November 20, the rally will travel across various locations and culminate in New Delhi on November 26, coinciding with the celebration of National Milk Day. Abhishek Sharma, ZIC, Chandigarh Zone, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Limited, Gujarat, said that the rally, which marks the celebration of National Milk Day, honors the birth anniversary and lasting legacy of Dr. Verghese Kurien, also known as the ‘Milk Man of India.’ The event is a collaboration between two trusted Indian brands—Amul and Bajaj Auto—aimed at acknowledging the vital role dairy farmers play in producing sustainable BioCNG, which powers the Bajaj Freedom, the world’s first CNG motorcycle.
He said Amul, as the world’s largest farmer owned dairy cooperative and strongest food and dairy brand in the world is celebrating this event by organizing four mega car and bike rallies from four corners of India, Pune, Kolkata, Jammu and Himmatnagar in Gujarat ultimately converging in Delhi on 26th November at the National Milk Day celebration organized by the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India.
