Manipur: At least 11 suspected terrorists were killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Manipur’s Jiribam district on Monday, officials confirmed. The exchange of fire occurred at Jakurador Karong, located in the Borobekra sub-division, following an attack by heavily armed terrorists on local shops, houses, and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp.
The terrorists had allegedly torched several shops and attacked residences and the CRPF camp earlier in the day, triggering the confrontation with security forces. During the firefight, two CRPF personnel were injured, with one of them reported to be in serious condition, officials said.
The bodies of the slain militants were brought to the Borobekra police station, where officials are conducting further investigations. Authorities also reported that a few civilians were still missing, and it was unclear whether they had been kidnapped by the retreating militants or had taken refuge in hiding.
The situation in the region remains tense, and security forces are continuing to investigate the incident.
