Kishtwar: Security forces continued their extensive search operations in the dense forests of Keshwan and surrounding areas in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday. The operations, which have been ongoing for over four days, aim to flush out terrorists who are believed to be holed up in the area after a gunfight on Sunday claimed the life of an Army officer.
According to reports, the security forces are targeting a group of three to four terrorists responsible for the abduction and killing of two Village Defense Guards (VDGs) last Thursday. Officials confirmed that there has been no fresh contact with the terrorists since the encounter on Sunday, but the operation continues with the goal of neutralizing the militants.
The terrorists are suspected to have fled into the Kuntwara forest, which is located near where the two VDGs, Nazir Ahamed and Kuldeep Kumar, were abducted and shot dead on Thursday evening.
The operation, involving both the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, has focused on tightening the cordon around the forested region, but the challenging topography has slowed progress. Security officials said that despite these difficulties, the operation remains a priority, with additional reinforcements deployed to ensure the terrorists are tracked down and neutralized.
The deaths of the VDGs, which have further escalated tensions in the region, have prompted a strong response from security forces, who are working round the clock to end the threat posed by these terrorists.
