Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution demanding the restoration of special status for the erstwhile state after which BJP MLAs staged protest against the resolution and raised slogans. The BJP leaders alleged that the speaker of the House was favoring the treasury benches, despite of the fact that they are not representing any political party, but was favoring the National Congress (NC). BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma slammed the speaker Adbul Rahim Rather for playing with the sentiments and emotions of the people of J&K as Rather put the NCs’ resolution to vote which passed in the assembly with the majority. Meanwhile, he climbed on the table in the Well of the House saying that it was “NC’s ploy since 1947 to play with the sentiments and emotions of the people of J&K.” The BJP MLAs also raised slogans praising the move made by the Modi government on August 5, 2019.
