Air India Flight Experiences Major Delay Before Finally Departing for Vancouver
An Air India flight from Delhi to Vancouver finally took off yesterday morning after facing a lengthy delay of over 21 hours due to reported technical issues. Scheduled to leave at 5:30 am on Saturday, the flight did not depart until 3:15 am on Sunday, leaving passengers stranded at the airport for almost an entire day.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the delay was caused by a technical problem that prevented the aircraft from taking to the skies as planned in the early hours of Saturday. This resulted in the flight being rescheduled and all passengers experiencing a major unanticipated setback to their travel plans. An Air India spokesperson confirmed the delay was due to “technical issues and subsequently due to crew coming under the mandatory Flight Duty Time Limitations.”
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident for the airline, which was recently privatized. Just last week, an Air India flight from Delhi to San Francisco faced a delay of over 30 hours due to non-functioning air conditioning on board. Passengers were left onboard for hours before being deplaned. The aviation regulator has since issued a notice seeking an explanation over unexplained delays and poor passenger treatment.
While the cause of the Vancouver flight delay is still under investigation, this highlights the need for Air India to improve operational reliability and keep customers updated in a timely manner during disruptions. Passengers deserve to reach their destinations as scheduled and the airline must work to regain passenger trust through quicker solutions that prioritize customer service during issues outside their control.
