CM Sharma appointed Member of State Human Rights Commission

  Tawi, Oct. 11: The government today appointed the senior social and political leader Sh. Chander Mohan Sharma as Member of J&K State Human Rights Commission (JK SHRC) , a report from Srinagar said.

The collegiums panel headed by the Chief Minister and comprising senior cabinet colleague and leader of opposition has approved the name of Chander Mohan Sharma as a Member of the J&K SHRC. The Commission has three vacancies of members as it has been working with the Chairman Mr. Bilal Nazaki and Mr. Jung Bahadur Jamwal.

The J&K State Human Rights Commission is supposed to be an independent and autonomous body provided with the responsibility of upholding and protecting Human Rights of one and all in the State. The working and functioning of the Commission, be it judicial proceedings or administrative matters, have never been or are under the influence or control of the Centre and State governments in any manner. The Commission has been working and carrying out its incumbent duties fairly and judiciously, without any interference of indulgence by any of the Centre and State agencies. Like all other Commissions in the State, the J&K State Human Rights Commission is the recommendatory body in nature and belief.
