Following a story by Northlines regarding illicit sale of Sunder Bani river water to private company, concerned authorities swung into action and constituted high level team to probe the content of the story.

According to sources, the high level team, including Assistant Executive Engineer visited the site to investigate the matter.

“A high level team visited the sunder bani site, wherein they found that a water motor was functional to fetch water from the river,” said sources, adding that instead of taking action against the accused person of damaging the government resources, a mild warning was issued.

Sources close to the investigation maintained that the team issued a mild warning to the individual responsible for the illegal water sale.

“Despite catching him red handed doing illegal practice,  the team members just ignored the and urged the accused person to vacate the premises,” asserted sources,  adding that the team refrained from questioning the private company allegedly complicit in the scheme, despite reportedly paying ₹400 per tanker for water.

Suspicions have been raised regarding a potential nexus between the individual in question and officials within the flood control department.

They alleged a systemic failure to address the illegal activity, indicating a possible collusion between the parties involved.

“Despite longstanding knowledge of the illicit practices, the flood control department has seemingly turned a blind eye, prompting accusations of complicity among its ranks,” alleged sources.

Local residents have voiced their concerns, demanding a thorough investigation into the matter, particularly targeting the implicated officers, to prevent such malpractices from recurring in the future.
