There is no doubt in the fact that the scientist fraternity of DRDO has yet again basked in the glory of success by doing wonders in the shape of conducting first flight test for the indigenously developed Agni-5 missile. For sure the achievement is so big that every Indian is bound to get goose bumps as this feat has placed the country in the list of few nations having such a capability to ensure robust defence line and if need arises or under compelling conditions the aforesaid missile can even devastate the enemy bases located thousands of kilometers away.
The weapon is equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology that has improved its effectiveness manifold times in delivering multiple warheads to different targets with precision. It is pertinent to mention that the country has already deployed the Agni 1 to 4 missiles with ranges from 700 km to 3,500 km.
After the successful flight test of Agni 5, PM Narendra Modi has lauded scientists at DRDO but undeniably the feat achieved by DRDO fraternity through their stellar performance has become a reality only because of the fact that PM Modi has reposed faith on them and provided all kinds of logistics besides ensuring free flow of funds. The nation owes much to the dynamic prime minister of the country for achieving feats one after another as this big leap in the defence sector has distinguished India as a part of an elite group of countries having such exemplary prowess.
It is pertinent to mention that MIRV payload involves a single missile carrying four to six nuclear warheads, each programmed to hit a separate target, the technology which only a select group of nations possess as of today. The Agni-5 missile has a range of up to 5,000 km bringing many countries including China and Pakistan under its striking range. It is bound to enhance India's national security, which was the need of the time. The country had carried out a number of tests of Agni 5 missiles but the latest was the first flight test roping in MIRV technology.
All said and done, it is a matter of pride for every Indian that today India is moving steadily in bolstering its defence capabilities by giving nightmarish moments to the countries which act as adversaries in one way or the other.
