Security Agencies worried over possible ISIS ingress

,July 5:- The Ministry has ruled out the possibility of repealing AFSPA in Jammu and in the light of the current security scenario in Kashmir and the possibility of alarming situation on Afghanistan-Pakistan border areas.

The Defence Ministry is opposed to untimely revocation of the AFSPA because of the increase in incidents of militancy related violence and the centre's reaction has come in the wake of growing
demand from the PDP for repealing the AFSPA.

The Union Ministry of Defence (MoD) has revealed that the external factors of Afghanistan-Pakistan region are likely to impact the internal security situation of Jammu and Kashmir.
The MoD in its annual report 2015-16 said the changing situation in both the countries including some other external factors may change the internal security situation in the State.
“External factors including the changing situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan may also impact the internal security situation in Jammu and Kashmir,” the report released by the MoD earlier this year reveals.
What worries the Government and the security forces, including the Army,is the possible  ingress of ISIS activists from across the border. And once the IS is able to carve out hideouts in Jammu and
Kashmir it may add new dimensions to the security scenario. Under this situation it may not be possible for troops and other security forces to carry out operations against militants without the shield of the AFSPA.

It is in this context that troops, guarding the LOC,and the BSF,deployed on the IB,in the state of Jammu and Kashmir have been told to strengthen the entire border management and initiate added
measures which could prevent even two to three militants from crossing into the state of Jammu and Kashmir.(KIP)
