Army porter, intruder killed on LoC

Date:

A suspected militant and a porter were killed in two separate incidents on the Line of Control (LoC) in and on Sunday.

The Pakistan Army resorted to firing in Kupwara's Keran Sector on Saturday night. “The ceasefire violation resulted in the death of one Army porter and injuries to another,” said an Army official.

According to an Army spokesman, the injured was shifted to hospital. The body of the porter was handed over to his relatives.

In the Pir Panchal Valley's Poonch district, an intruder was shot dead by Army personnel manning the LoC.

Jammu-based spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said the incident took place around 2.30 a.m.

“Alert troops opened fire after noticing suspicious movement on the LoC in the Krishna Ghati sector. The intruder was killed in ambush. His identity is yet to be ascertained,” said the Army officer.
