J&K directs transfer of employees with 5+ Yr tenure

Date:

Srinagar, Sep 09: The government of and Union Territory has asked all departments to identify and suggest transfer of employees with tenures of more than five years in a significant effort to improve openness and accountability in governance.

According to official records, Arun Kumar Mehta, the chief secretary of J&K, has asked the authorities to identify and transfer all personnel with tenures of more than five years.

He issued the staff rationalisation directives during a meeting of the committee of secretaries (CoS) on August 16, 2022, which he presided over.

“CS found that several officials with tenure of more than five years should be moved promptly.” “Within seven days, all departments were required to identify and suggest transfer of personnel with tenure of more than five years,” according to the records.

Following that, on August 24, the General Administration Department (GAD) wrote to administrative secretaries to identify and suggest the transfer of personnel in their subordinate offices with tenures of more than five years.

On Friday, the GAD wrote to the departments again, asking them to provide action taken report(s) on the matter for the chief secretary's review.
