Unemployment leading to youth joining militancy

, February 15 (KIP):-As a result of growing problem of
unemployment among the educated youth many of them have started
joining militant groups where their financial needs are fully met.

A survey has stated that only in North more than 25 boys,
educated, have joined militant outfits which has raised the number of
militants to over 100 in north Kashmir About 80 to 100 militants are
active in North Kashmir and 23 of them had joined militancy after
agitation last year, Army  has  said government should be asked why
educated youth are joining the militancy in the Valley.

The Army believes that  the militants settled in various areas due
to agitation in the Valley as troops were busy in maintaining law and
order situation
The agitation provided an opportunity for militants to settle in
various areas of the Valley. The army too was focusing on law and
order situation but now the focus has again been shifted to
anti-militancy operations,” official sources have said.

As the problem of unemployment  is growing problem of militancy
in Kashmir. too assumes new dimensions.” However,  the Army is
strengthening  intelligence network and focusing on anti-militancy
operations. The anti-militancy operations will remain  Army's focus.

The security forces have ample proof on the increase in educated
youth joining militancy, and  the Government has to find the right
answer for tackling the menace.Once an educated youth joins militancy
he is assured of monthly income and his family members are given some
assurance on meeting their demands.(KIP)
