22 officers deployed in J&K to meet shortage

Date:

New Delhi, Sep 9: Union Minister said on Friday that 22 officers from various services and cadres have been appointed in and at various levels to solve the Union Territory's officer shortage.

He stated that the Department of Personnel and Training's deputation restrictions have been loosened in order to encourage IAS and other All Service Officials, as well as officers of the Central Services, to be deployed in J&K.

Briefing the media on multiple initiatives taken to alleviate the lack of officers in the newly established UT, he stated that as a result of this waiver, 22 officers from various services and cadres have been placed in Jammu and Kashmir at various levels at a critical moment.

He stated that DoPT has played a significant role in supporting the induction of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services Officers into IAS by collaborating with the UT of J&K, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and UPSC.

“As a consequence, 16 officers from JKAS have just been admitted into IAS, and another 8 such vacancies will be filled up shortly, offering possibilities to JKAS officers to become part of the famous IAS service after a lengthy hiatus of 12 years,” he added.

The Minister further stated that Mid-Career Training of JKAS officials of varying seniority was carried out in partnership with LBSNAA, providing a new level of exposure to JKAS officers and more than 200 offices.
