Badaun (UP), Dec 9: Praveen Togadia, the national president of Bajrang Dal, has sparked controversy by claiming that all mosques built during the Mughal period were constructed by demolishing temples. He made these remarks during a program in the Bilsi area on Sunday evening as part of his ongoing tour of western Uttar Pradesh, ahead of the Maha Kumbh. Togadia asserted that he had seen a list of 12,000 temples allegedly demolished to construct mosques during the Mughal era. “All the mosques built during the Mughal period were built by demolishing temples,” he said, echoing the longstanding claims by some right-wing groups regarding the history of religious structures in India.
Additionally, Togadia expressed concerns about the violence faced by the Hindu community in Bangladesh. Referring to recent incidents of attacks on Hindus, he questioned the nature of the protests in Bangladesh. “If the fight (of the protesters) was with the Bangladesh government, then why were Hindus killed? There should be a government in India that can protect Hindus and give a proper answer,” he said.
