Mohali, September 17: As many as 110 units of blood were collected during a mega blood donation
camp at Ivy Hospital, Mohali on Saturday. The camp was organized by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha
(BJYM) to mark PM Narendra Modi 72nd birthday.
Dr Kanwaldeep, MD Ivy Group of Hospitals along with Subhash Sharma, BJP Punjab general
secretary inaugurated the camp.
Dr. Kanwaldeep said that an adequate supply can only be assured through regular donations.
Transfusion of blood and blood components help in saving millions of lives every year, besides
helping patients with life-threatening conditions, she asserted.
Speaking during the occasion, Subhash Sharma said that to mark PM Modi 72nd birthday, BJP has
decided to celebrate it as ' “Seva Pakhwada” '. As PM terms him as country's first ‘Sewak', we would
celebrate “Seva Pakhwada” from today onwards till Gandhi Jayanti. During these 15 days the party
leaders and workers would carry out many community benefits social work including encouraging
people to take a pledge to offer their services towards fighting tuberculosis, promoting Swachh Bharat,
holding blood donation camps, vaccination camps for booster dose, adopting plans for water harvesting,
engaging in environment protection activities and saplings plantation.
In Punjab we would also carry out cleanliness drives in 2000 villages, he said adding we have started the
first day of “Seva Pakhwada” by organizing blood donation camps and we are hopeful to collect around
10,000 units of blood in Punjab today.
Among others, Bhanu Partap Rana, Punjab state youth president and Sanjeev Vashisth, BJP's state
executive member were also present during the occasion.
