100 days on, Abducted soldier untraceable

Srinagar, Nov 11: After failing to trace their son even 100 days, the parents and relatives of abducted soldier from South 's Shopian district Wednesday staged a protest and demanded CBI probe into the missing case of their son.

Family members of the abducted solider reached press enclave Srinagar and stated that that they have knocked the doors of concerned authorities several times but officials showed no interest in investigating the case.

They said over 100 days have passed since their son was abducted but authorities have no interest in finding the whereabouts of the “our son.”

Shaan Manzoor, brother of missing soldier, said that authorities have failed to find any clue—whether his brother has been killed.

“If he has been killed, then the authorities must find his body and if he is alive, then why no step is being taken to trace him,” Shaan Manzoor said.

He said that they demand Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) must investigate the incident so that they can find whether he has been killed or is alive.

Pertinently, the Territorial Army solider, Shakir Manzoor, a resident of Shopian's Reshiepora village was abducted by suspected militants on August 02 and his car was burnt down in Kulgam village while his clothes were found in Landoora area of Shopian on 5 August.

Manzoor Ahmad, the father of missing of soldier his father, said that since August 02, they have searched for Shakir in Shopian and Kulgam district, but to no avail.

Pertinently, few days after Shakir's abduction an unverified audio message surfaced on social media in which the speaker claimed to be a militant, without identifying himself, and asserted to have abducted and killed the soldier after which his family members demanded the body.

In the audio, the speaker also claimed that they have buried him at an unidentified location and his body won't be returned, like authorities are not returning bodies of militants.
