Lok Sabha Election | Barring Polling Staff, DM Poonch Declares Holiday For Govt Employees On May 25

  • DM Poonch Announces Dry Day in District From May 23-25.

POONCH, May 23: In order to ensure maximum participation of the Government employees in the electoral process, the District Magistrate has declared a holiday for all Government employees on May 25. He has, however, categorically declared that there shall be no holiday for the polling staff.
Meanwhile, the District Magistrate in Poonch has also declared a dry day in the district in view of the General Elections to the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency from May 23 to 25. As per the order, no spirituous, fermented, or intoxicating liquor or other similar substances shall be sold, given, or distributed at any hotel, eating house, tavern, shop, or any other place, public or private, within the polling area during the forty-eight hours leading up to the conclusion of the poll.
