Jammu Tawi: Karan Singh Wazir, Chairman of the All J&K Transport Welfare Association, while addressing a press conference, here today has pledged to uphold and champion the rights of transporters and industry professionals in Jammu and Kashmir. He vowed to prioritize the issues of transporters and work closely with other industries associations and the High Court Bar Association to bring about positive change for the people of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. The conference addressed numerous pressing issues plaguing the transporter community, which have gone unaddressed for too long. Key topics on the agenda include urgent intervention to streamline the registration and dedicated routes process for e-rickshaws, e-buses rotation and supervision, toll tax discrepancies, contract carriage rules, e-challan issues, and Interstate traffic violations.
Despite the constructive objectives of the initial meeting held at Jammu’s warehouse on November 7, it was marred by disruption. Vijay Singh Chib, president of the association, revealed that a group of individuals, reportedly aligned with a former Chairman, attempted to derail the proceedings and intimidate attendees. According to eyewitness reports, some disruptors even arrived armed, casting a pall of tension over what was intended to be a unifying occasion. Through today’s press conference, Karan Singh Wazir has redefined the association’s priorities, setting a precedent for unity, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the rights of the transporter community. He has called upon all transporters to stand together and resist attempts to divide them, emphasizing that only through collective action and an unbreakable bond of trust can they secure a prosperous and equitable future for their industry.
