Srinagar, May 4: Residents of Jammu and Kashmir can expect a brief spell of unsettled weather before conditions stabilize later this week, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
The weather office has predicted generally cloudy skies across most parts of the Union Territory on Sunday, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Thunderstorms, hailstorm activity, and gusty winds with speeds of up to 40–50 kmph are likely at a few places, particularly across Kashmir and parts of Jammu.
On May 5, the region may continue to witness brief spells of light rain and thundershowers at scattered locations, mainly during the afternoon hours.
A noticeable shift in weather is expected from May 6 onwards, with conditions turning largely dry across most areas till May 9. However, isolated brief showers during the afternoon cannot be ruled out.
Looking ahead, the MeT department has forecast mostly dry weather between May 10 and 12, although a few scattered places may still receive light rain or thundershowers.
Authorities have advised residents, farmers, and travelers to remain cautious during periods of thunderstorms and gusty winds, especially in vulnerable areas.
The forecast is particularly significant for those planning travel or outdoor activities in the coming days, as weather conditions are expected to improve gradually after the initial spell of instability.
