Srinagar, Nov 1: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said that the newly opened Chrysanthemum Garden in Srinagar would serve as a major attraction for tourists visiting the Valley during the autumn season.
Abdullah, who also heads the National Conference (NC), visited the Valley’s first Chrysanthemum Garden — Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood — located at the Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden.
“This is a beautiful garden. None of the flowers here have been imported; they have all been grown locally. After the Tulip Garden, this will be another attraction that requires less maintenance,” Abdullah said.
The NC president added that the Valley traditionally had little to showcase during the autumn months, but the garden would now offer visitors a vibrant new experience. “Tourists should come and see how beautiful this garden is and the variety of colourful flowers grown here,” he remarked.
Abdullah also congratulated the Department of Floriculture and the gardeners involved for their efforts in creating an attractive and well-laid-out garden that adds to Srinagar’s scenic charm. (Agencies)
