    Soldier allegedly shoots self dead in J&K’s Banihal

    On Tuesday evening, a 27-year-old soldier allegedly shot himself to death within an Army camp in the Chamalwas village of Banihal in J&K's Ramban district.

    A police official told Greater that Tejpal Singh of 12 RR, a resident of Utter Pradesh, died instantly after he shot himself with the service rifle.

    Police said the postmartum was conducted at SDH Banihal after which the body was handed over to army authorities.

    An inquest proceeding under section 174 CrPc has have been initiated at Police Station Banihal into the incident.
