Simple lifestyle tweaks to look and feel your healthiest by the new year

The clock is ticking to welcome 2025 in the best shape of your life. With just four months to go, now is the time to make those easy diet and exercise adjustments that can transform your health before the ball drops.

According to fitness expert Raj Ganpath, incorporating a few everyday habits focused on hydration, movement, nutrition and rest can have you finishing 2024 with more energy and a stronger, leaner physique.

First on the list is increasing daily water intake. Keeping well-hydrated supports metabolism and flexibility. Ganpath recommends drinking at least half your body weight in ounces of water daily. Step count is also key – aim for 12,000 to 15,000 steps every day to boost heart health and calorie burn.

For strength training, allocate time on three non-consecutive days per week. Exercises like squats, pushups and weight lifting can build muscle and burn fat. Include one to two endurance sessions also, such as swimming, jogging or hiking.

Pay attention to what fuels your workouts too. Getting enough protein is vital for muscle growth – aim for one gram per pound of body weight spread throughout the day. Load up on fresh fruits and vegetables as well as whole grains and healthy fats.

While it’s important to nourish your body, don’t forget your mind. Practicing stress management techniques and sticking to a consistent sleep schedule of at least seven hours nightly can counteract fatigue and aid recovery.

With a balanced routine of smart nutrition, sufficient exercise and restorative downtime, it’s entirely possible to achieve peak performance and appearance before ringing in the new year. But consulting an expert can help if goals aren’t met through continued effort. Small, sustainable changes lead to big rewards – so start today!
