Jammu Tawi, Sept 10: S Avtar Singh Khalsa, member and ex-general secretary DGPC, strongly condemned the murder of S Tarlochan Singh Wazir Ex MLC and Chairman State Gurdwara Parbhandhak Board, at Delhi a few days back and stated that there is a strong resentment among Sikh community and public as S Tarlochan Singh Wazir was a leader who always fought for the rights of down-trodden. A void has been created by the death of a leader of his stature that seems impossible to be filled.
He further stated that going by the media reports, a deep rooted conspiracy seems hatched in murder of Wazir and the culprits should be brought to book. He also expressed his displeasure over the inaction by the law enforcing agencies even after the lapse of so many days and prima facie evidence collected by the agencies so far.
‘Prominent community members met with the Deputy Commissioner Jammu today and demanded a CBI enquiry into the case which the Deputy Commissioner has assured to be recommended,’ said Khalsa.
Avtar Singh Khalsa demanded that an order to this effect be issued at the earliest preferably before the cremation of S Tarlochan Singh Wazir otherwise the situation may take an ugly turn and responsibility for the same shall lic solely on the administration.
Prominent leaders who were present in the press conference were Jatheder Mohinder Singh, S. Manmohan Singh, members DGPC, Shrimoni Akali Dal, Sikh students federation, Sikh Intellectual Circle jammu, Sikh Nojawan Sabhas.
