Shah Says Stopping Infiltration in Assam Not Enough; Calls for Deportation of All Illegal Immigrants

DHEKIAJULI (ASSAM), Mar 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday asserted that while the BJP government has successfully stopped infiltration into Assam over the past decade, this alone is “not enough,” and every illegal immigrant must be sent back to their country.

Addressing a poll rally in the Dhekiajuli assembly constituency of Sonitpur, Shah accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in several states to “protect infiltrators.”

Shah also alleged that Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi is defending infiltrators and called on him to clarify his stance. He claimed the Congress, during its rule, failed to safeguard national security and allegedly allowed terrorists from Pakistan to target Indian citizens, while praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking a strong stand against terrorism.

“The BJP government has stopped infiltration in Assam, but this is not enough. Each illegal immigrant must be sent back,” Shah said. He urged voters to support the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections to re-elect Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and ensure Assam is free from infiltrators, promoting peace and development.

Elections for the 126 assembly constituencies will be held on April 9, with counting scheduled on May 4. (Agencies)
