    Search on to trace cell phone of accused who murdered two Punjabi workers

    Srinagar, Feb 15: Days after a local militant and  the main accused was arrested for his alleged involvement in the killing of two workers from and Police along with Indian Navy's elite marine commando MARCOS launched a search operation in  the water body in Srinagar to trace his cellphone and other incriminating materials which he had thrown, officials said.

    Two day ago, J&K Police said that they arrested Aadil Manzoor Langoo, a resident of Srinagar, who was involved in the February 7 killings of two Punjabi migrant workers – Amritpal Singh and Rohit Masi. Police had said a pistol that was used by him to commit the was also recovered.

    However, during further questioning, Aadil revealed to the investigators that he had thrown his cellphone and other incriminating materials into a water body at two places along the Ali Jan Road in Srinagar after the attack, official sources said.

    “It was on this revelation that the searches were launched by Police and MARCOS in the water body to trace his mobile and other incriminating materials,” the sources said, adding, that “this material was important for further investigation in the case.”

    After the arrest, Additional Director General of Police, Vijay Kumar had said Aadil had been radicalised online by Pakistan-based handlers.

    “If you dig Aadil Manzoor's background, neither he nor his family has no previous background (of militancy),. He was motivated and radicalised through social media by Pakistani handlers,” Kumar told reporters in Srinagar on Tuesday.

    Kumar claimed Aadil used to regularly pray at the mosque and had leanings towards the Ahli Hadees sect of Islam.
