Jammu Tawi: The Saini Samaj, a group representing the Other Backward Classes (OBC), has strongly opposed a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to revisit Article 370. Pritam Singh Saini, President of Jammu Kashmir Kshatriya Saini Sabha and National Vice President of Ganmanya Samaj Sangathan (New Delhi), expressed the community’s discontent with the resolution, which was abrogated by the central government on August 5, 2019. He emphasized the achievements of the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, stating that it helped correct historical injustices, particularly towards marginalized classes. He argued that the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not support the reinstatement of Article 370, as it deprived them of fundamental rights and economic progress for over six decades. He emphasized the positive impact of the abrogation, including a significant reduction in militancy and equal rights for various marginalized communities. He accused the National Conference of misleading the public with false narratives and urged the party to stop manipulating sentiments for political gain. He warned against exploiting sensitive issues for political mileage, as they do not align with the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who are now looking forward to a future free from militancy and aligned with the prosperity and progress of the rest of India.
