Jammu Tawi: Ajit Singh, chairman of the Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum, led a protest in Jammu on Tuesday over the discrimination against retired police pensioners and fire services. He said that the effect of Govt. Order No. 229 — F of 2014 should be given prospectively, starting from the date of the order. He also suggested that life paramilitary forces medical facilities should be given on the same pattern to State Police, as J&K State Police now falls under the Home Ministry.
The protesters also criticized the delay in the process of pension papers and completion of formalities like NOCs, causing retiring officers to struggle to receive pension and other retirement benefits. They urged the government to issue strict circular instructions for adhering to the time frame for processing pension papers and to start the process at least two years before retirement.
The protesters also criticized the current situation of SPOs not receiving their salaries at the right time, citing difficulties in running their households. They also praised Manpreet Singh SPQ for winning the Gold Medal-World Strength Lifting Championship from Kazakastan held from 5.07.2024 to 19.07.2024 and urged him to be encouraged and provided any necessary benefits.
