    Reality Contrary To Rhetoric

The reports published in the media have unraveled certain facts which will dishearten the people of J&K, who solemnly believe that what the Central Government had broadcast regarding rooting out corruption in the region is true to hilt because reportedly the probe conducted by the coveted probing agency of J&K, the ACB has something contrary to tell to the people.

It is known to one and all that the Centre, after the move to abrogate Article 370 never get tired of boasting that it has eliminated corruption from one of the most corrupt states of the country viz J&K, and the rhetoric by its representatives whether the then LG or others, was used to make people believe that post August 2019, the corruption has become a thing of the past in J&K.

Albeit there were many takers of this narrative at that time and even now also but the probe by the ACB has spilled the beans as many skeletons have come tumbling down the aforesaid administration’s cupboard because in less than seven months after declaring Article 370 null and void, reportedly unknown officials in the Jammu and Kashmir administration allegedly hired a recruitment firm illegally and later fabricated the list of 690 candidates selected as forearm and fireman drivers in Fire and Emergency Services Department raising many questions against the claims of Centre and even the same J&K administration of showing zero tolerance against the corruption and freeing the region of corruption after it was bifurcated and downgraded into a Union Territory in 2019.

It is pertinent to mention that many cases of corruption have surfaced in the UT including recruitment scams viz SIs in JKP, etc post J&K becoming a UT and coming under the direct  control of the central government.

The latest case of corruption in recruitment of aforesaid candidates in Fire and Emergency Department was initially probed by J&K’s General Administration Department which submitted its findings to the ACB on July 24 this year.

As the ACB has filed a case in this regard, the things will come to fore only after the thorough probe, but what is to be seen is that corruption is still a big issue in J&K as the narrative being spread regarding eliminating corruption seems to be manipulative rather than being true.
