Rahul Gandhi files nomination papers from Kerala’s Wayanad parliamentary constituency

WAYANAD (KERALA), Apr 3: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi kickstarted his re-election campaign from the scenic Wayanad constituency of Kerala on April 3rd. Gandhi, accompanied by sister and AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders like KC Venugopal, filed his nomination papers from Wayanad.

After submitting the papers to the District Collector who is the Returning Officer, Gandhi took the oath to uphold the constitution, concluding the nomination process. Earlier in the day, he held a roadshow from Kalpetta to the Civil Station, interacting with the locals.

In his address after the roadshow, Gandhi reiterated his commitment to addressing issues faced by the people of Wayanad, including human-animal conflicts in the hilly regions. He said he will continue advocating for the constituency at the and level.

Gandhi had won the Wayanad seat in the 2019 general elections by a huge margin of over 4 lakh votes. He will be defending his seat against BJP state president K Surendran and CPI leader Annie Raja in the upcoming polls scheduled for April 26th.

With verdant valleys and mountains, Wayanad is one of the most scenic constituencies in the country. Gandhi kickstarting his re-election bid from here indicates the importance he attaches to representing this picturesque south Kerala seat in Parliament. Local voters will now keenly watch his campaign in the run up to polling.
