Punjab’s Fareed bags Dhara-Ardhan Dangal title

, Mar 06: Wrestler Fareed from Dinanagar in lifted the 18th Dhar- Ardhan (Pail) Dangal title after he defeated top J&K wrestler Benia Min of J&K Police in the Ist malli bout.

The winner Fareed adjudged best Wrestler of Dangal to be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 71,000 while runners-up Benia was presented with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 by the organisers.

This dangal  was organized by Dhara- Ardhan Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association  in Mera Mandrian area of Tehsil and district Jammu under the overall supervision of Jatinder Singh (president) and Rohit  Kumar Sharma (Sarpanch).

The SDPO Jammu, Dr KD Bhagat was the chief guest, who distributed cash prizes  among those winner and runners-up wrestlers. President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. The DDC Suraj Singh Bhau, DDC Suresh Kumar Sharma, DDC Bharat Bushan Sharma were guests of honour.

President Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Rajan Singh (Happy), Narinder Singh Bhau, Rakesh Singh Charak, Rohit Kumar Sharma (Sarpanch) and Babishan Singh (Sarpanch)  were among other prominent present on the occasion.

In all, 76 bouts were played in the day long Dangal which involved an expenditure  of Rs. 5.50 lakhs. Chief guest KD Bhagat contributed Rs 51,000 as financial assistance to the organizers.

The 2nd main bout won by Major of Dera Baba Nanak (Punjab) beating Shanty of Varn in Punjab. While Major awarded Rs. 61,000, runners-up Shanty given away a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

In third main bout, Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of J&K Police defeated Rashid of Domana  Akhara to be awarded Rs.31,000. Runners-up Rashid got Rs 20,000.

Similarly, the fourth main bout won by Nisar of Doda, who defeated Farooq of Ludhiana in Punjab. Nisar awarded Rs. 25,000, while Farooq presented a cash prize of Rs. 16,000.

The fifth bout was won by  Babba of Kot Bhalwal and a trainee of  Akhara Domana  beating Wrestler Nadeem of Doda. While Babba got Rs 18,000, Nadeem received Rs 13,000 as cash prize.

Members  and technical officials who helped for smooth conduct of this dangal included Jatinder Singh (president) Rohit Kumar Sharma (Sarpanch), Som Dutt Sharma, Surinder Singh (chairman), Kartar Chand, Munish Sharma, Kuldeep Singh, Subash Singh, Mohinder Singh, Deepak Kumar, Ram Paul, Sanjay Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Pappu Kumar, Mohinder Paul, Kuljeet Singh, Surjeet Singh, Rajinder Singh, Om Parkash Sharma and Deepak Wazir.

Other Results: Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhalwal beat Zakir of Lallian, Surjeet Singh of Reasi beat Amir Khan of J&K Police, Madan of Reasi beat Golu of Chaitha, Ranjeet Singh of J&K Police beat Sonu of Jullandhar, Muneer of Nagrota beat Vikas of Dera Baba  Nanak, Chain Singh of Reasi beat Arjun of Jammu. Bout played between Rajesh of J&K Police and Yuv Raj of Jammu ended in a draw.
