    Punjab Police Busts Pak-Based Narco-Hawala Module, 2 Arrested

    Chandigarh, Oct 8: Punjab Police on Wednesday claimed a major breakthrough in trans-border narcotics operations by busting a Pakistan-based narco-hawala syndicate and arresting two key handlers. Over 5 kg of heroin and more than ₹29 lakh in drug money were seized during the operation.

    The arrested suspects, identified as Sajan s/o Ramesh and Resham s/o Younis, were reportedly managing large consignments of heroin and hawala transactions across Ferozepur and adjoining areas. The operation was conducted by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Ferozepur police.

    Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the seizure and arrests on X, stating that the syndicate was “well-organised” and linked to a notorious smuggler in Pakistan. An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigations are underway to trace the network’s operational links.

    Officials emphasized that this action underscores Punjab Police’s ongoing commitment to tackling cross-border narcotics smuggling and disrupting organized crime networks. (Agencies)
