    ‘Pakistan Is My Janmabhoomi, India My Matrubhumi’: Danish Kaneria

    New Delhi, Oct 5: Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has refuted rumours about seeking ‘Indian citizenship’, asserting that he remains proud of his Pakistani identity. The 44-year-old, currently residing in the **United States** with his family, addressed the speculation through a post on **X** (formerly Twitter).

     

    Kaneria, who is **Hindu by faith**, said the rumours stemmed from his positive remarks on India’s internal issues. “I feel it is important to set the record straight. I have no plans to seek Bharatiya citizenship,” he clarified.

     

    He acknowledged receiving love from Pakistani people but alleged facing **discrimination and pressure to convert** from the **Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)** and other authorities. “Alongside love, I faced deep discrimination, including attempts of forced conversion,” Kaneria wrote.

     

    Calling Pakistan his *Janmabhoomi* (birth land) and India his *Matrubhumi* (motherland), Kaneria said, “For me, Bharat is like a temple. If someone like me ever chooses to seek citizenship, the CAA is already there.”

     

    He added that he is living safely in the U.S. with “the blessings of Prabhu Shri Ram” and vowed to continue exposing “anti-nationals and pseudo-secularists” dividing society.

     

    Kaneria represented Pakistan from **2000 to 2010**, playing **61 Tests** and **18 ODIs** as a leg-spinner. (Agencies)
