New Delhi: Sharda Sinha, Padma Bhushan recipient and a legendary folk singer known for her Chhath pooja songs, passed away at AIIMS Delhi at the age of 72. She was known for her performances at Chhath, weddings, and other rituals, and had also contributed to songs in movies like Maine Pyar Kiya and Gangs of Wasseypur. Sinha made her name during a time when Vindhyavasini Devi dominated the Bihar folk music scene with her stage shows and renditions on Akashvani. She had developed liver complications and was admitted to ILBS, Delhi, before being shifted to AIIMS.
