Srinagar, Feb 6: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted searches at the Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with its investigation into the Delhi car bomb blast case in November last year, official sources said.
The blast has been linked to the so-called “white collar” terror module that was busted by J&K police last November.
According to officials, a team of NIA sleuths arrived at the medical college and carried out searches related to the recovery of an assault rifle from a locker belonging to Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather, a resident of Anantnag, who was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the case. Rather, along with eight other accused, is currently in NIA custody. Rather worked as a senior resident at the GMC Anantnag until October last year.
Sources said the searches at the medical college were aimed at gathering additional evidence connected to the terror module.
NIA has not issued any statement on the searches in GMC so far.
The Delhi car explosion near the Red Fort last year, which claimed 11 lives and left several others injured, was preceded by a nearly three-week-long investigation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the busting of a “white collar” terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and the AguH. The probe was launched after a poster allegedly issued by the proscribed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) surfaced in Srinagar on October 19, 2025.
