Motorola Takes On Samsung With Launch of New Premium Foldable Smartphone
Motorola is making a big push to gain more market share in the foldable smartphone segment with the launch of its new Razr 50 Ultra device. Priced at nearly Rs. 1 lakh, the Razr 50 Ultra is Motorola's most premium folding phone yet and looks to challenge Samsung's dominance in the high-end foldable space.
With its compact square form factor when folded, the Razr 50 Ultra aims to offer the best of both worlds – a large 6.9-inch display when open and a sizable 4-inch external screen for quick views and inputs. Its hinge mechanism is significantly smaller now for easier one-handed operation. Under the hood, the phone rocks the latest and most powerful Snapdragon chip, generous storage and memory, and a dual rear camera system.
Some notable features include the LTPO display with a fast 165Hz refresh rate, IPX8 water resistance rating, and various AI-powered modes leveraging capabilities from Google. Motorola is also bundling premium Google services with the phone. With its emphasis on style and performance, the Razr 50 Ultra launches just ahead of anticipated new foldable phones from industry leader Samsung next month.
While still a small player in India's crowded smartphone bazaar, Motorola has seen strong sales growth recently. It will be interesting to see if the enticing package of the new Razr 50 Ultra can win over more consumers and challenge Samsung's dominance in the country's nascent foldable phone segment. Fonly time will tell if Motorola's iconic Razr brand has what it takes to shake up the category.
