Mayank Yadav “Has Not Touched 150 Kmph This Series”: Bangladesh Star’s Remark Meets Brutal Reply

The ongoing T20I series between and Bangladesh witnessed an intriguing exchange between Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal and former Indian cricketer Murali Kartik during a match commentary. Tamim made an observation that India's emerging fast bowler Mayank Yadav is yet to touch the 150 kmph mark in the ongoing series against Bangladesh.

Mayank was included in the Indian squad for the T20Is against Bangladesh on the back of an impressive season where he regularly bowled at over 150 kmph and also claimed the Player of the Match award in his first two games. However, he missed some matches due to injury. The young pacer made his debut in the first T20I against Bangladesh in Gwalior where he bowled a tight maiden over and took the wicket of Mahmudullah.

In the second T20I, Mayank was clocked at 146-147 kmph on a few deliveries but was yet to breach the 150 kmph barrier in the series as per Tamim's remark during commentary. Murali Kartik, who was commentating alongside Tamim, gave a befitting reply stating that “neither has Bangladesh” touched 150 kmph in the series.

This exchange brought the debate around India's pace attack to the forefront ahead of their tour of Australia. Former Indian pacer RP Singh backed the inclusion of Akash Deep over Mayank for the upcoming Australia series, saying his skills are better suited to the bouncy pitches in Australia. However, he added that Mayank remains an exciting prospect and will develop his skills with more domestic game time and experience of playing in different conditions.
