    Man opens fire at Farooq Abdullah, arrested

    Jammu Tawi, Mar 11: A man opened fire at National Conference President Farooq Abdullah accompanied by Surinder Choudhary, the Dy CM of J&K, an official said on late Wednesday.  The officials said that the two were returning from a marriage function in the Jammu outskirts when the incident happened.

    Both the JKNC chief and the deputy CM escaped unhurt according to the officials. The accused was overpowered by security personnel and later arrested. Police, quoted by PTI, said the suspect is currently being interrogated and further investigation is under way.

    The accused, Kamal Singh Jamwal, a resident of Purani Mandi, was overpowered by security guards and was whisked away for questioning, they said. No one was injured in the firing, the officials said, adding Jamwal was allegedly in an inebriated condition.

     The incident took place at posh Greater Kailash locality of Jammu when Abdullah and the deputy chief minister were coming out of a marriage function, the officials said.
