KNOWING the way to feel the wonder of YOGA

Wherever you get a chance to do your  physical  exercise, you should do it . So assumes the film actor, Anil Kapoor. And he came to limelight  a few months back  as  he did exercise even inside the aeroplane  when he had been on his  way to the Toronto film festival a few months back . I do that because I want to look my best, he added then .

What is called being a regular,  it is the first requirement to get the issues resolved through Yoga, as well.   Sharing his experience, Yogacharya  Dr Chetanya of RSS  says that once a Reader of Chemistry of Madurai University   told him that he could not have had proper sleep for the last 20 years.  Dr.Chetnaya first had him perform Shavasana, and some other Yogic exercises under his guidance for 3-4 days. Later he told him, unless the cause being inevitable, to continue them rest of the life  without a break. Now the professor has got back his normal sleep.

Psychiatry  and Ayurveda department of   BHU  medical science research institute  jointly conducted a study  recently and claimed that through Preksha dhyan( Kayotsarg, Shavasan, Antaryatra)   and  Yognidra that the  depression and several other mental ailments could be treated to a great extent.

Sachin Tendulkar says that once he had been in big trouble due to back pain. One day wicket keeper, Kiran More, took him to renowned Yoga Guru,  late B.K. S. Iyangar. The divine  glow and compassion of  a heart that emitted through him  impressed Sachin a lot. He did Yoga for a one week under his guidance initially. ‘Since then I do Yoga daily at home. So much benefit it went to yield  that thereafter I saved from  surgery suggested by a team of allopathic doctors!', adds Sachin.   He never forgets what Iyangar used to say-‘ Never miss your practice, never for a day . And feel the wonder of Yoga!'

Importance of continuity lies in the fact that every other day we cross a new limit, and fixes a next stage to do better than the  earlier one .  As such if we miss the regularity or continuity the perfection achieved so far gets lost. It was the view of BKS Iyengar.

And what Yog-darshan says, see- ‘Sthir sukhmasnam'. Means, the natural state of happiness that lies in the balanced body is what is called Aasnas! It is because of being done with a controlled regime of breath, and  in slow motion  that body, mind  and prana  (vitality)  nourished through Yogasanas. Vata-pitta-kaffa  (Anabolism- Catabolism- Metabolism) get controlled as also , bringing  about the balance in the either sides of brain.   ‘Yoga makes us realize that the remedy lies not somewhere out  , but within ourselves.  It is medicinal power lying dormant that activates and emanates from our body through Yoga,  which ultimately  keeps us healthy sustainably. The happy hormones like endorphin also releases through it  in the process. And in case of mental upheavals the Yoga integrated in your life, therefore, composes you. '- says Acharya Balkrishna.
