Jammu Tawi: The joint edition of the Jammu Film Festival (JFF) and The International Film Festival of Srinagar (TIFFS) is set to kick off on November 20, 2024, with a grand opening ceremony at the Aquaplex Crown in Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu. Festival Director Rohit Bhat while addressing a press conference, here today, expressed gratitude for the immense support from Jammu Tourism, particularly Director Vivekanand Rai and Joint Director Sunaina Sharma Mehta, whose vision has played a crucial role in positioning Jammu as a prominent destination for international film festivals. He further said that this year’s festival is dedicated to the late Mushtaq Kak, a legendary figure in Indian theater and film. “The festival will showcase 78 films selected from over 400 entries received from 50 countries, with the final lineup including 59 short films, 14 documentaries, and 5 feature films, selected by a prestigious jury. The festival will run across both Jammu and Srinagar, with screenings in Jammu from November 20-22 and in Srinagar from November 22-23 at Tagore Hall,” he said. Sanjay Saraf, Advisor to the festival, highlighted the importance of government support for the continued success of the festival, urging state authorities to recognize the cultural significance of this initiative. Renowned director Manzoor Ahmad Mir spoke passionately about the unifying power of art, noting, “Cinema transcends all boundaries, and this festival is a celebration of how storytelling can bring people together.” Vomedh’s Vice President Bharti Kaul, along with festival co-director Rakesh Roshan Bhat, expressed their hopes for a successful festival and encouraged the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to participate in this cinematic celebration.
